International Squad 2014 - Points Progress

I'm very lucky to have Emma B on the Agility Team GB Support team. Em is a real whizz on data and as well as working on the performance analysis data she is also collating the 2014 qualification results.

I asked her if she could give me a summary of where we are to date with the results, I was particularly interested to see how the points break down regionally.

The Championship shows in particular are spread fairly evenly geographically across the country which should give everyone the same opportunity to gain points, so it's interesting to see how these have been claimed.

Of course not everyone wants to compete at international events which I'm well aware of. So here are the results so far, interesting reading....

Summary
The Credit system for accumulating points towards selection for the 2014 squad has now been running for just of over 2 months - the first show being Wyre (Lancs) on 23rd March and the most recent show being Nottingham on 25th & 26th May.

There have been 123 opportunities to award a total of 1230 points, across all heights and applicable classes. The total of 1,230 points is split 400 Small, 410 Medium & 420 Large, so fairly evenly. The total amount of points actually awarded as of 29th May 2013 is 710, from 65 opportunities. The 710 is split 160 Small, 245 Medium & 305 Large, not so evenly.

33 different Handler & Dog combinations have been awarded credits: 15 Large, 10 Medium & 8 Small. The Handler & Dog combination with the most credits awarded so far to date is a Medium - Steven Richardson with Ag Ch Noworries Sweeps Dream.

Closed Shows
Handlers have 1 month to send in their requests for Credits. As of 29th May, there are 9 shows for which this deadline has past. This analysis will now look at only these shows in its comparisons.

All Heights
Of the points available for the closed 9 shows, only 68% points have been requested, 32% of the total points available are now no longer available to be claimed. The class for which the highest percentage of points have been requested is for both the Champ Jumping & the Champ Final CC Winner both with a split of 80% claimed and 20% lost. The class for which the lowest percentage of points have been requested is the Champ Final Reserve with a split of 40% claimed and 60% lost.

Small Dogs
Small Dogs have the lowest percentage of points being awarded with 46% of points being claimed and 54% points being lost as past the deadline. Even though 100% of the available points from the Champ Jumping class have been awarded, all of the points from the Crufts Qualifiers, Olympia Qualifiers and the Champ Final Reserve have been left unclaimed!

Medium Dogs
Medium Dogs have the highest percentage of points being awarded with 86% of points being claimed and 14% points being lost as past the deadline. 100% of the available points from the Crufts Qualifiers, Olympia Qualifiers, Champ Jumping class and the Champ Final CC Winner have been awarded. Surprisingly, only 33% of the points available from Champ Agility classes have been claimed.
