Getting ready for the FCI Agility World Championships
It's less than two weeks now before Agility Team GB leave for the FCI World Championships in Luxembourg, it suddenly seems very close!
The team had their last official training session in the UK on Sunday. Thanks to our sponsors (The Kennel Club, CSJ Specialist Canine Feeds, EuroTunnel and Agility1st) we were able to hire an indoor sports hall for a carpet training day. Our other sponsor First Contact provided the equipment (thank you) and even supplied some special European style jump bars and weaving poles.
At the European Open we found these pieces of equipment to be quite different to what we usually experience, so some practice on this was essential.
Of course I'm going to say the team are looking good, and they definitely are. One thing that has really struck me this year with both teams has been the great atmosphere when I'm with these guys. They are of course highly motivated, excited and good to be around. They are also very supportive of each other.
So all remains now is for these dogs & handlers to keep fit & healthy, well rested and mentally prepared for the event. Each of them will be running through their last minute preparations and routines they've been developing over the last few months.
I understand Team GB have a strong group of supporters travelling to Luxembourg, which is fantastic news. The venue looks amazing (see pictures on this link and below) and the organisation is all coming together with latest news and time tables on the web site.
I think tickets are still available, here is a link to the web site where you can find out all the information you need. Easyjet fly there from around £60. There will be great agility on from around 07:30 each day, trade stands, networking opportunities, dancing & music in-between courses all amongst the spectacle from over 30 countries from around the world.
It is certainly one of the highlights in the agility calendar.
