More Reflections and thought provoking

Our plan for today was to start off by taking the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty and get a different view of the city. This turned out to be a great way to see the statue, see some different sites and take a boat trip. Generally speaking I don't do boats. This was different. The water was still, it was a beautiful day and we were on holiday.

While we've been here the weather has been hot and humid, which I quite like although it did get the better of me on the walk from South Ferry up to the 9/11 memorial. I nipped into a sports shop and walked out with after buying a pair of sandals, shorts and T-shirt, much to the amazement of the shop staff - crazy English people.

Visiting the 9/11 memorial site was a very moving experience. The museum has a time line of events and ..... well I find it difficult to sum up the atmosphere. The actual site of the two towers has been made into an incredible memorial and a very special place.

The whole area is being re-generated and the new buildings going up are beautiful. The one in the picture below is stunning. It amazes me how these huge towers are built.

After spending some time here, we walked on up town and finished off the day with a bit of shopping in Macy's and another walk through Times Square.

We have an early start tomorrow to fly up to Burlington for the next part of our trip in Vermont.
